EVENTS: THE GORDON PARKS AWARDS DINNER AND AUCTION

An artist and humanitarian, Gordon Parks is one of the seminal figures of 20th century photography, film and journalism. The Gordon Parks Foundation honors individuals who have contributed their lives to the arts. The 2011 awards dinner honored individuals who have inspired others through their creative work.

This year's honorees included Arianna Huffington, Karl Lagerfeld, Spike Lee, Sir Ken Robinson and Stephanie Winston Wolkoff with special performances by BLUE MAN GROUP and Rufus Wainwright. The evening also announced the first-ever winner of The HBO Gordon Parks Film Scholarship that recognizes new talent at the Ghetto Film School where their mission is to educate, develop and celebrate the next generation of great American storytellers.
